BUSINESS PULSE

Economy: A surge in U.S. manufacturing is driving economic optimism, with factory output rising 3.2% in Q1 2025, led by demand for semiconductors and clean energy equipment. Investments in domestic production facilities, particularly in the Midwest and Southeast, are reducing reliance on imports and creating a ripple effect in local economies.

AI: AI is revolutionizing healthcare, with startups deploying tools to enhance diagnostics and patient care. A prominent AI platform now analyzes medical imaging with 85% accuracy, rivaling human specialists, while hospitals adopt AI-driven scheduling to cut wait times. This shift is streamlining operations and improving outcomes in healthcare settings.

Startups: AI and healthcare startups are securing significant funding. In May, 2025, Moonvalley, an AI video generation startup, raised $53 million to enhance its text-to-video platform, while Sprinter Health secured $55 million to expand its at-home healthcare services. These investments reflect strong investor interest in innovative tech and healthcare solutions.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Greg Bailey, Founder & CEO of Rivet Co.

R. Tell us about Rivet Co. — what do you do and who do you serve?

Greg. Rivet Co. is a multi-disciplinary business designed to empower entrepreneurs, businesses, and everyday Americans. Rivet Co. brings together the following four dynamic areas:

Rivet Media: Beginning with Rivet Report, a weekly newsletter delivering the latest insights, growth strategies, and sharing entrepreneur success stories; Rivet Media seeks to build loyal audiences by providing high value content and community.

Rivet Consulting: By providing business strategy, marketing consulting, executive coaching, and startup advising – we help leaders and businesses thrive.

Rivet AI: Exploring opportunities and building solutions at the intersection of education and technology.

Rivet Real Estate: Creating opportunities and memorable experiences through smart real estate investing.

This has been a passion project in the making, born from a desire to connect ideas, people, and opportunities in meaningful ways.

R. What inspired you to start this business?

Greg. I'm a builder. I started Rivet Co. to build synergy around the projects I had begun over the last couple of years. As a multi-disciplinary business, we're working to make a positive impact on several fronts, such as—small business owners, startup founders, those working full-time and building an entrepreneurial side hustle, profitable businesses trying to get to their next level of growth, improving education outcomes, and more.

R. What do you love most about being a business owner?

Greg. I love the autonomy and the flexibility that entrepreneurship provides. The freedom to pursue new ideas and opportunities for businesses and growth are what excite me. The flexibility allows me the opportunity to organize my days in a way that works best for my schedule.

R. What are the biggest challenges you’ve faced — and how did you push through them?

Greg. One of the most elusive challenges is finding (and maintaining) product-market fit for a new business. Staying curious, being persistent, and always asking great questions of your market will help you ensure that you're solving a real problem.

R. What has been your proudest moment in business so far?

Greg. Nearly 10 years ago, I founded a tech company called Denim. There were many accomplishments and "wins" while building Denim. Signing each new sales agreement with a customer was certainly a proud moment. Raising more than $10 million in venture capital was great. But, seeing the camaraderie of our team members and watching them thrive at our company was a real highlight.

R. How do you define success?

Greg. Zig Ziglar once said, "You can have everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want."

More than thinking about success or striving toward success, I tend to focus on how to best solve for gaps and opportunities I see in the market. By building from my eagerness to help businesses and people succeed, I've been blessed with success.

R. What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs just getting started?

Greg. Momentum begets momentum. Work hard at building momentum early in the life of your business—and once you have momentum, work hard to never lose it. Good things happen to those who have momentum.

R. What are your long-term goals or vision for the business?

Greg. One division of Rivet Co. is Rivet Media. This newsletter—Rivet Report—is the first service from Rivet Media. We would like to grow or acquire more newsletters. In addition to newsletters, we believe podcasts, events, and other forms of media can serve distinct communities of people across the U.S.

"You can have everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want."
